The Parietal Lobe!
Strategically placed above the occipital lobes are the parietal lobes which are associated with several types of recognition via synthesis of sensory input.
The parietal lobes are necessary for spacial orientation and real-world 3D type calculations. Although they may seem hi-tech, these functions are some of the most fundamental functions of our animalistic existence.
Had we still been living out in nature, our hunting skills and similar 3D spacial orientation skills would be vital to our well-being, much more so than in our digital world of today! Ironically, we spend so much time indoors that we seemed to have found the need to create 3D technologies to simulate being outside!
