The Parietal Lobe!
Strategically placed above the occipital lobes are the parietal lobes which are associated with several types of recognition via synthesis of sensory input.

The parietal lobes are necessary for spacial orientation and 3D type calculations. Although they may seem hi-tech, these functions are some of the most fundamental functions of our animalistic existence.

Had we still been living out in nature, our hunting skills and similar 3D spacial orientation skills would be vital to our well-being, much more so than in our digital world of today!
